Preparing the Tri-Tip Roast

In a small bowl, combine the black pepper, garlic salt, mustard powder, paprika, and cayenne pepper to create the rub.
Pat the tri-tip roast dry with paper towels. Rub the spice mixture evenly over the entire surface of the roast.
Place the seasoned roast on the preheated grill and cook for about 25-30 minutes, turning occasionally, until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (around 135°F for medium-rare).
Once done, remove the roast from the grill and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.

Making the Tri-Tip Barbeque Sauce

In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the olive oil. Add the diced red onion and minced garlic, sautéing until they're softened and fragrant.
Pour in the chicken broth, steak sauce, ketchup, chopped parsley, Worcestershire sauce, ground coffee, and black pepper. Stir well to combine.
Simmer the sauce for about 15-20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld and the sauce to slightly thicken. Stir occasionally.
Once done, remove the sauce from the heat and set it aside.

Assembling the Tri-Tip Sandwich
